Why it exists
Converting a photo should not mean uploading it to a stranger's server, waiting in a queue and clicking past ads that look like download buttons. This site does the conversion locally, shows what changed, and keeps the interface out of the way.
How it works
- Your browser decodes the image. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and usually AVIF use the browser's own decoders.
- HEIC files, which most browsers cannot open, are decoded with libheif compiled to WebAssembly, loaded only when you add one.
- The pixels are drawn to a canvas inside a background worker, resized if you asked, and encoded to the format you picked. AVIF, and WebP on browsers that cannot encode it, use WebAssembly encoders.
- The result is a Blob kept in memory. Download links point to that Blob, never to a server.
What it is not
It is not a photo editor, and it does not preserve photo metadata or animation. Those limits are stated on each converter page and flagged on the affected files.
How it is funded
The site is free to use and is intended to be supported by unobtrusive advertising outside the converter. Read the privacy policy for details.
